Cocktail author: recipe adapted by Deke Dunne (original idea by George Kappeler).

With dark time of the year finally turning the corner, it is the best possible moment to enjoy a few more booze filled stir down cocktails, before the season of lighter, fruitier drinks starts taking over. Widow’s Kiss is a cocktail perfectly fitting for this purpose and season of the year.

Cocktail is built on a split base of apple brandy and cognac. Sweeter apple notes of the apple brandy are being mellowed down by the more oak forward cognac and its various dried fruit tones, while at the same time drying an otherwise slightly sweet cocktail out. Herbaceous kick is provided by the additions of Benedictine and Yellow Chartreuse which elevates the cocktail complexity to another level without overpowering the overall taste. Finally, a couple of dashes of Angostura bitters expands the aromatic dimension of the cocktail with subtle spice notes binding it all together.

Window’s Kiss is a cocktail recipe with a long history and Deke Dunne’s take breathes a new life into it worth of the XXI century.
