The Whiskey Sea
COCKTAIL INGREDIENTS:
- 60 ml Aged Rum
- 15 ml White Creme de Cacao
- 15 ml Banana Liqueur
- 22,5 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
- 2 Dashes Grapefruit Bitters
GARNISH:
- Lemon Twist
- Cocktail Flower
INSTRUCTIONS:
• Combine all of the ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
• Add ice and shake until chilled.
• Strain into a cocktail glass over a large block of fresh ice.
• Garnish with a lemon twist and a flower.

When I first noticed the name - Whiskey Sea, I immediently imagined a bourbon or scotch based drink, so I was naturally surprised to read the recipe and discover this rum filled libation with a tropical twist.
Base of the cocktail is formed by aged column still rum with notes of aged oak, dried fruits and vanilla. Tropical theme is then further reinforced by cacao and banana liqueurs, adding depth and fruitiness to the cocktail, that also unwraps the subtler notes of rum. Sweetness is then balanced by the addition of bright, tart and fresh lemon juice, not the traditional citrus to go with rum, but in this cocktail it works. Final addition of grapefruit bitters, binds the ingredients together and adds a touch more complexity, without which it would be hard to imagine this drink.
All in all, Whiskey Sea is a remarkably delicious and bright cocktail with layers of flavours and complexity. Perfect afternoon sipper. I highly recommend trying it, if you have a chance.
