Prizefighter No. 1

COCKTAIL INGREDIENTS:
- 6 Mint Leaves
- 3 Lemon wedges
(one wedge approx. 1/8 of the lemon)
- 30 ml Fernet-Branca
- 30 ml Sweet Vermouth
- 22,5 ml Simple Syrup
- 7,5 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
- Pinch of Salt

GARNISH:
- Sprig of Mint
- Lime Wheel
- Flower

INSTRUCTIONS:
• Add mint leaves, lemon wedges and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker.
• Muddle the lemon, but be careful not to shred the mint.
• Add rest of the ingredients.
• Add ice and shake until chilled.
• Double strain into a cocktail glass over fresh pebble ice.
• Garnish with a sprig of mint, lime wheel and a flower.

With summer coming to a close, what better way to mark the occasion, than with one last refreshing mint and amaro cocktail served over pebble ice.

Cocktail base is split between the strong, bold and herbaceous Fernet-Branca and sweet vermouth. Fernet brings notes of peppermint and liquorice, while sweet vermouth adds vanilla, citrus and bitter orange to the mix. Together it forms a solid and flavoursome cocktail base, which is further reinforced by the addition of fresh mint. Muddled lemon along with a touch of lemon juice brightens the cocktail up with its tartness and lemon peel oils, which helps to tame the boldness of Fernet. A bit of simple syrup balances the cocktail out allowing individual notes to reveal themselves to their full extend. Finally, a pinch of salt helps to reign in the bitterness and seasons the cocktail allowing all the flavours to come together and shine a little brighter.

All in all, Prizefighter No. 1 is a delicious, complex and refreshing cocktail that is absolutely worth more attention. Perfect cocktail to mark the remaining warm evenings with.
