Swizzle – the first thing that comes to my mind when thinking about swizzles is tropical rum-based cocktails. However, this recipe takes the Caribbean classic of Green Swizzle and reinvents it, by changing the base spirit and bringing alpine génépy flavours to the mix, completely altering the flavour profile.

Base of the cocktail is blanco tequila with its strong vegetal, earthy agave notes. It is then perfectly paired with subtle grassy notes of green tea syrup. Génépy brings delicate herbal and floral alpine tones increasing the cocktail complexity. It works almost like a touch of Green Chartreuse, but does not overpower other ingredients. Mint leaves then macerate in these liquids slowly infusing its cooling freshness into the drink. Pineapple juice transports the cocktail back to the tropical paradise with delicious fruity notes, while lime tartness balances the overall cocktail. A few dashes of Peychaud’s adds the eye-catching red float line at the top, with atomizer spray of Chartreuse adding further aromas immediately hitting your nose.

There is a lot to unpack here: delicious ingredients, functional and fragrant garnishes, turn It’s Not Easy into an amazing cocktail, that is difficult to describe. So, if you have a chance, I highly recommend giving it a try.
