Italian Espresso Martini
COCKTAIL INGREDIENTS:
- 30 ml Fresh Espresso
(Quickly Chilled)
- 45 ml Amaro Averna
- 15 ml Sweet Coffee Liqueur
(Such as Kahlúa)
GARNISH:
- 3 Coffee Beans
INSTRUCTIONS:
• Combine all of the ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
• Add ice and shake until chilled.
• Double strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
• Garnish with three coffee beans.

Espresso Martini is a cocktail that has been at the top of the cocktail menus for the last few years and paved the way for the number of coffee cocktails and liqueurs to follow.
This particular recipe is a riff on the modern classic with a complex bitter-sweet Italian touch.
In this particular case, base of the cocktail is not a hard spirit, but a bitter-sweet Italian amaro Averna with complex herbal, caramel, orange and liquorice notes. It is paired with the deep bold almost chocolate like flavour of espresso. Balancing it all out is a gentle addition of sweet coffee liqueur further reinforcing the espresso martini theme.
