Spiced Pear Rum Sour

COCKTAIL INGREDIENTS:
- 45 ml Dark Rum
- 30 ml Pear Juice
- 22,5 ml Fresh Lemon Juice
- 15 ml Amaretto
- 15 ml Cinnamon Syrup
- 2 Dashes of Angostura Bitters

GARNISH:
- Cinnamon Stick
- Pear Fan

INSTRUCTIONS:
• Combine all of the ingredients in a cocktail shaker.
• Add ice and shake until chilled.
• Strain into a cocktail glass over fresh ice.
• Garnish with a pear fan and a charred cinnamon stick.

Spiced Pear Rum Sour is a warming cocktail, mainly intended for rainy autumn afternoons, but its rum base and tropical spice mix, brings the cocktail close enough to the tiki universe, so much so, that I’m pleasantly enjoying it in the middle of a heat wave.

Base of the cocktail is dark rum with its bold caramel, molasses, nuts and tropical spice notes creating a solid warming foundation to be paired with the comforting fruitiness of pear juice. A touch of amaretto reinforces the nutty quality of the base spirit, while cinnamon syrup brings the feeling of warming spice right to the forefront. Addition of lemon juice balances the sweetness with tart aromatic citrus kick. A couple of dashes of Angostura bitters seasons the cocktail with multitude of tropical notes, blending the individual ingredients together.

All in all, Spiced Pear Rum Sour is a delightfully delicious cocktail, full of comforting and warming qualities- a perfect drink to relax with after a long and complicated day.
