Cocktail author: not exactly sure who came up with this idea first, but I got this recipe from The Educated Barfly channel.
Candy cocktails is a rather unusual category, that many bartenders professional or home tend to ignore. I’m no exception, every time I see a recipe for such drink a deep-seated scepticism often takes over. However, eventually I found the time to push my own assumptions to the side and test a recipe for Skittles Vesper, that has been on my list for quite some time.
Base of this cocktail is Skittles infused London dry gin combining base juniper notes with the fruity sweetness of the Skittles. Vodka keeps the proof of the cocktail without letting the fruitiness of infused gin to run wild and completely take over the subtler notes of the drink. Lillet Blanc brings subtle floral, fruity and honey flavours by adding a layer of complexity, yet perfectly blending with the base spirit.
All in all, Skittles Vesper might not be the most sophisticated cocktail of all time, but it was a fun experience to make and taste one. So, I highly encourage you to set all your preconceptions to the side and give it a try.
