If you have been following my cocktail journey, at least for a while, it won‘t come as a surprise that I love a good tiki cocktail. I see no need to get snobby about it. Fun stories, tasty drinks and elaborate garnishes, might not appeal to minimalists, but I see no problem with having a little fun. Sometimes, it is exactly what we need and this tiki cocktail will certainly make your day brighter.
Base of the cocktail is lightly aged blended rum, I used Planteray 3 Stars, but feel free to experiment with others. Rum brings notes of honey, sugar as well as tropical fruits and spices. It is then paired with bright, sweetness of peach liqueur and floral qualities of honey syrup. Blended pineapple, further expands the tropical fruit theme with deliciously sweet, vibrant, even slightly tart flavour. Fresh lime juice give a little jolt to the cocktail by balancing out the sweetness, while mint provides a fresh cooling touch.
Unlike many other tiki cocktails Missionary’s Downfall features a modest amount of alcohol, just 30 ml of rum and a touch of liqueur, which allows you to have a few more cocktails in one night. At the same time, it does not compromise on the quality of the drinking experience. The cocktail is bright, vivid and full of layers revealing themselves more and more after each sip. Great cocktail for summer parties and gatherings.
