There are few things more satisfying in life, than a cold crips Martini. Being one of the foundational cocktails it naturally developed a strong following and inspired countless riffs and variations. Arsenic and Old Lace is just one of many such drinks, that manages to distinguish itself with subtle floral flavours and a hint of absinthe.

Base of the cocktail is gin with prominent classic juniper, coriander and citrus flavours enriched by delicate floral and spice notes. Dry vermouth adds herbal slightly bitter flavour with subtle addition of warming honey. Crème de Violette introduces just a trace of sweetness supplemented by the fragrant floral tones, lifting the cocktail to a new dimension when combined with slightly obscured addition of absinthe. Lastly, a couple of dashes of orange bitters binds all the floral notes together into a satisfying and refreshing drink.

All in all, Arsenic and Old Lace is a deliciously complex, boozy and fulfilling drink, perfectly suited for both Martini lovers and cocktail novices.
