Cocktail author: Don the Beachcomber.

Don the Beachcomber is responsible for some of my favourite tiki cocktails and QB Cooler have just joined that list. This complex blend of rums, syrups and juices results in a divine cocktail, that I highly recommend trying.

Triple blend of Puerto Rican, Jamaican and Demerara rums, creates a rich and complex base for the cocktail, bursting with tropical fruit and spice notes, that is difficult to describe. Tropical vibe is further reinforced by the sweet nature of Falernum with notes of cloves, ginger and lime. Combination of ginger and honey syrups complement the aromatic nature of falernum, at the same time adding a little extra sweetness. Lime juice brings a touch of balance with that signature tartness. Orange juice together with soda water lengthens the drink while introducing a subtle citrusiness. Finishing touch of Angostura bitters helps to support and coax some of the more delicate aromatic notes in the cocktail and helps to bind the individual ingredients.

QB Cooler is a fantastic tiki cocktail. History says, that Trader Vic liked it so much, that in his efforts to recreate it, he invented another tiki classic – Mai Tai. Now, after tasting it, I can see why Trader Vic spent so much effort trying to recreate it. I will surely be making this again.
