My last cocktail in this year’s Sarti Rosa summer cocktail series is Pink Katydid. Laden with the variety of orange notes and with an eye-catching pink colour it is a piece of silly, playful summer in a glass.
Base of the cocktail is Tanqueray flor de Sevilla gin where traditional botanical gin notes are enriched with Seville oranges, orange blossoms and even a hint of grapefruit. This base spirit, blends very well with the fruity nature of Sarti Rosa, creating a very easily drinkable combo, that does not require a lot of modification. A couple of quick tweaks, turns this into a simple and tasty drink. Addition of lemon juice, brings tartness and freshness to the mix with a bit of simple syrup helping to balance the flavours. A few dashes of grapefruit bitters, brings the individual notes together and adds subtle complexity which makes this cocktail work.
All in all, Pink Katydid is a simple playful cocktail intended to capture summer spirit in a glass. Give it a try and have a little fun if you ever have a chance.
